Homestay (Host Family)

A warm welcome into French family life

The ideal way to discover French culture and its people is to live with a local family. We therefore recommend a stay with one of ILA's carefully selected host families, which enables you to experience total immersion in French language and culture. The school selects the families according to a strict criteria and also respect the IALC accommodation code.

ILA knows all the host families personally and have inspected their homes carefully. All families are obliged to sign a contract with ILA in order to assure highest quality.

The school places great importance on the friendliness of their host families and their interest in a cultural exchange. Not only will you be able to practise your French outside tuition hours but you will also gain an interesting insight into a typical French way of life.

Details

Rooms : Single room (double rooms are also possible for students travelling together). All rooms are properly equipped with a proper bed, adequate storage space, lighting, chair and desk etc.

Meal plan : Breakfast only or half board (breakfast and dinner).

Location of families : Nearly all families live within less than 30 minutes to our Institute. Approximately half of our families are in walking distance to ILA.

Transfers : You will be picked up at Montpellier train station or airport upon arrival and taken back for departure. You must let us or your host family know the time of your arrival as well as flight number or train number no later than 1 week before your arrival. This service is available between 9:00 am and 10:30 pm. This service is free of charge. Arrival is possible as of 02:00 pm, earlier on request.

On arrival : Your host family will show you your room as well as the common parts of the accommodation. You will be given a key to the home and your hosts will explain you the house rules.

After you register with us, we will ask you to fill in a questionnaire to find out about your habits and interests. This information will help ILA to choose the best matching family for you. The school guarantees to fulfil all your special requests like vegetarian food, special nutrition requirements (food allergies), respect all allergies against any pets etc. as well as guaranteeing non-smoking families. They will also make all efforts to fulfil your wishes like families with or without children, central location, family at a certain age or all other requests you might have. Additionally, ILA also takes into account your age and hobbies.

Prior to Arrival

2 - 3 weeks prior to arrival we will provide you with detailed information about your host family. All address and contact details will be given as well as information on all family members, their professions and hobbies.
ILA's families appreciate if they get contacted by you prior to arrival and it might be a good idea to contact them providing also your arrival details.

During Your Stay

ILA's accommodation officer will be there for you during your stay for guiding you or helping you with any question regarding your accommodation.

End of Stay

At the end of your stay you receive a quality questionnaire to evaluate the aspects of your stay at ILA including your host family. This evaluation form enables the school to monitor all family performances continuously.
