French Course Levels

Course Levels

Whatever dates you choose and regardless of how long you have been studying French, Institut Européen de Français has the perfect course for you. The school follows the Common European Framework issued by the European Commission for language learning. They offer a minimum of 6 different French levels, but most of the time 8 - 10 levels are provided.


Objectives for each level

Beginner
(Level A1)
Methodical learning and practice of fundamental language knowledge helping the student to learn basic communication skills.
Elementary
(Level A2)
Revision and enrichment of basic language structures in order to communicate confidently and easily in discussion.
Intermediate 1
(Level B1)
Enlargement of vocabulary and grammar structures allowing the student to cope with every day situations. Active introduction to French culture and civilisation by using authentic documents.
Intermediate 2
(Level B2)
In depth study of oral and written French enabling the student to participate fluently in conversation in most topics. Understanding of newspaper articles, writing of reports.
Advanced
(Level C1)
Understanding of extended speech, news, complex factual and specialised texts. Effective use of language for social and professional purposes.
Superior
(Level C2)
Achieving a high degree of proficiency in the language. Study of different aspects of the language, idioms, analyses of French culture and civilisation.

Certificate

A certificate of achievement is issued to students who have regularly attended a course. This certificate formally states the length of the course and the proficiency attained.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to prepare and sit the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes de Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) exam - the only exam for French as a foreign language recognized by the French Ministry of Education.
